Welcome back to Goetze To Know Us, where we spotlight outstanding Goetze Candy Company employees. We’re honored to introduce you to Reyna, one of our dedicated Crew Leaders.
Reyna has been working at Goetze's Candy Company for over two decades. Her most notable accomplishment while working with us is the service award she received after her first key year at the company. “Goetze’s Candy Company feels like a second home to me. My experience here has been so enjoyable – it makes me feel happy to know that I bring a smile to everyone’s faces who loves Goetze’s candy.” Reyna is a Cow Tales® lover because they are so easy to snack on, with her favorite being the original chocolate flavor. We are so grateful for Reyna and thankful for all of her hard work over the years. This year, we celebrated National Caramel Day on April 5, as an ode to our favorite sweet treats. Here are a few of our Caramel Day highlights: We shared a new recipe with the viewers of WJZ in Baltimore. Emily Goetze, Quality Supply Coordinator, and Meghan Brody, VP Strategy and Operations, demonstrated how to make a decadent Caramel Creams Whipped Tarte. Our friends on social media got in on the Caramel Day fun, too – check out these beauty shots of our beloved Cow Tales® and Caramel Creams® being celebrated by some of the area’s biggest foodies: We also teamed up with The Charmery, a popular Maryland ice cream factory based in Baltimore, and supplied them with Cow Tales® Minis for the holiday. Each customer was offered a free caramel topping at any location; it was a hit!
Have an idea of how we should celebrate Caramel Day next year? Send us your biggest, sweetest ideas! social@goetzecandy.com Welcome to our Goetze To Know Us series, which can also be found on our Facebook, where we honor some of the most dedicated and exceptional employees of Goetze Candy Company.
To kick off this series, we’re going to spotlight Marge – who was a pillar of the samples department for 44 years! Marge retired last January, but we recognize her as one of our most committed, hard working employees. Her career at Goetze’s is one we treasure and will always remember. Marge’s long history at Goetze’s allowed her to work closely alongside several company family members including, Randle Goetze who was a machine mechanic at the time and years later, President of Goetze’s Candy. Marge was at the forefront of new flavor creations and sampling. Her all-time favorite Caramel Creams® flavor was chocolate peanut butter. However, nothing could replace her love of the original vanilla Caramel Creams®! To learn more about Goetze’s and our rich company history, be sure to sign up for our emails. We’re so happy you’re here.

With how much we love the taste of Cow Tales®, some of you may be wondering: how did these creamy, caramel sticks come about? It all began in 1984, when the Goetze family decided to add a new caramel confection to the lineup. Made from the same secret family recipe as Caramel Creams®, Cow Tales® were named to represent the opposite end of the cow, playing off the classic “Bulls-Eyes®” name that came more than 65 years prior. Another frequent question we get is why did Goetze’s Candy Company choose to name these treats Cow Tales® rather than Cow Tails. Well, Goetze’s used "Tales” instead of "Tails” to hint at the whimsical and nostalgic children's bedtime stories, since this brand is a more youthful and light-hearted take on Caramel Creams®. The image of the cow jumping over the moon, on the early packaging, was a nod to the "Hey Diddle Diddle" nursery rhyme, emphasizing Goetze’s choice of “Tales” over “Tails”. In addition, we did not want the name taken literally (since our caramel sticks can look very similar to beef sticks at a first glance). Even today, we have “Not made from real cow tails” in our Instagram profile to clear up any confusion. And we can’t forget about everyone’s favorite mascot, Duke! Introduced in 2016, Duke the Cow brings joy with his cartoon features and goofy smile showcasing his adoration of Cow Tales®. Duke takes center stage on our Instagram page, sharing his favorite recipes, holiday traditions and current flavor favorites. Today, Cow Tales® flavors include: Seasonal flavors include Strawberry Smoothie in the Spring and Caramel Apple in the Fall. Be sure to sign up for our newsletter to stay in the know of our rotating seasonal flavors. ![]() Do you call them Bulls-Eyes® or Caramel Creams®? As you may already know, Goetze's Candy Company is a confectionery company proudly located in Baltimore, Maryland. Founded in 1895 as the Baltimore Chewing Gum Company, Goetze's has celebrated more than 125 years of making sweet treats in the USA. It was in the 1940s when Goetze's Candy moved away from chewing gum and shifted focus to manufacturing caramel treats. Today, we are globally known and celebrated for our secret family caramel and cream recipe. Goetze's Candy Caramel Creams®, also known as "Bull-Eyes®," are unlike any other caramel candy. Why? They are made with wheat flour as the primary ingredient, giving the caramels a chewy, not sticky, texture. In the center of the caramel is a decadent cream. And, Caramel Creams® still use the same original vanilla flavor that was introduced by Goetze's Candy back in 1918. Today, Caramel Creams® are available in three flavors year-round, "Original" Caramel, Caramel Brownie and Oreo®. Our seasonal flavors include Strawberry Smoothie during the Spring and Caramel Apple in the Fall.
