BALTIMORE, MD (May 22, 2018) — At the Candy Industry’s 73rd Kettle Awards, Mitchell Goetze, CEO of Goetze’s Candy Co., received the industry’s most prestigious award, the gleaming copper kettle. Goetze's Candy is based in Baltimore, MD, where they've been producing a number of various confectioneries – including their iconic Caramel Creams and Cow Tales – for over a century.

Together with brother Todd Goetze, President and COO, Mitchell carries on the tradition started by their great-great-grandfather in 1895. As part of the fifth generation, Mitchell grew up in the candy business, attending his first candy trade show with his father at the age of six. Working alongside his father, uncle, and grandfather from a young age helped Mitchell develop a unique perspective on the food and confectionery business.

Mitchell has served on the Board of Directors of the National Confectionery Association (NCA) since joining in 2003. During his time on the NCA Board, Mitchell rose to the position of Treasurer, continuing to Vice Chairman and then culminating as Chairman. Most importantly, Mitchell served as Chairman of NCA’s Strategic Planning Committee from its inception in 2008 through 2014, which helped guide the Association through an extensive reorganization.

Today, Mitchell serves as a member of the NCA’s Leadership Strategy Committee and continues giving back while providing industry guidance. In 2017, he was awarded the Doc Reed Silver Candy Dish award in recognition of significant contributions to the marketing and selling of confectionery items.

Mitchell and Goetze’s Candy Co. support a variety of local charities and organizations in Baltimore to strengthen the community. Some of the organizations that Goetze's Candy Co. has partnered with include the Kennedy Krieger Institute, Paul’s Place Outreach, and Baltimore Tree Trust among others.
