BALTIMORE, MD (October 31, 2019) — Goetze’s Candy Company, a Maryland-based manufacturer of caramel products including Cow Tales® and Caramel Creams®, celebrated Halloween by donating sweet treats to the Kennedy Krieger Institute for its employee costume contest. Held annually, the contest serves as an interactive way for patients, their families and staff to get into the spirit of Halloween. “We’re thrilled to celebrate Halloween with the staff and families at Kennedy Krieger Institute this year. Any time we can donate our time or products to this organization that dedicates itself to the care of children and young adults, we do,” said Mitchell Goetze, CEO of Goetze’s Candy Company. “We look forward to continuing our partnership for years to come.” Goetze’s Caramel Creams and Cow Tales were handed out as favors to the more than 200 employees who participated in the costume contest. Additional candy was set out in the parent lounge so families can enjoy treats with their children. The contest was judged by a star-studded panel, including Bradley Schlaggar, MD, PhD (president and CEO), Jim Anders (COO) and Dr. Nancy Grasmick, (Board Chair). “Our staff creates a SPOOK-tacular Halloween for children receiving care at Kennedy Krieger Institute. The day is filled with Trick or Treating around the hospital, our employee costume contest and a Halloween party for our inpatients and their families. We are grateful to Goetze’s for generously donating caramel treats to share, as well as their support for this un-BOO-lievably fun day!” Jaime Ball Kurman, director of Guest Relations & Volunteer Services at Kennedy Krieger Institute. Following the Halloween celebration is Kennedy Krieger Institute’s Festival of Trees. Goetze’s is an annual sponsor of the holiday extravaganza held the weekend after Thanksgiving that features fairyland forests, gingerbread towns, toy train gardens and holiday activities for kids. A family-run organization, Goetze’s Candy Company began making treats in Maryland in 1895. With its 125th anniversary on the horizon in 2020, the Goetze family continues to partner with local businesses to give back to the community where Goetze’s traditions began so long ago.
