About Caramel Creams®
Goetze’s started as the Baltimore Chewing Gum Company in 1895. In 1917, when the first World War created shortages of chicle (which is the main ingredient in gum), Goetze’s looked to develop new confections. Because of this, Goetze’s started to make “chuees”, a.k.a. Caramels without the cream center. The following year the cream center was added to the recipe, hence the name Caramel Creams®. Many consumers also refer to these sweet treats as Bulls-Eyes® which is a nod to the iconic “bulls-eye” appearance. About Cow Tales® In 1984, Goetze’s Candy Company launched a longer, thinner version of the Caramel Creams® product. Cow Tales® were named in correlation with "Bulls-Eyes®," maintaining the cow theme used to promote Goetze's dedication to making caramel with quality ingredients, including real milk. To keep the name from being taken literally, Goetze's chose to use "Tales" rather than "Tails." Alluding to whimsical and nostalgic children's stories, since this brand is a more light hearted and fun rendition to Goetze's Caramel Creams® brand. In addition, the image of a cow jumping over the moon - an allusion to the "Hey Diddle Diddle" nursery rhyme - was added. |
