Average kids are always extra careful to avoid risks of injury, especially while exercising. According to the Department of Health & Human Services, people should consider the following key guidelines for safe physical activity:

1  TAKE PRECAUTIONS
  • Understand the risks of an activity and feel confident that it is safe
  • Use protective equipment
  • Don't hesitate to ask for help
  • Be active in safe environments and at safe times of the day
  • Follow the rules

2  INCREASE PHYSICAL ACTIVITY GRADUALLY
  • "Start low and go slow"
  • Choose types of physical activity that are appropriate for your current fitness level (some are safer than others)
  • Make gradual increases to the frequency and duration of physical activities

3  FIND THE RIGHT FIT FOR YOU
  • Do activities that are in line with your overall fitness goals
  • Do not do exercises that could damage your body (due to age, experience, previous injury, preexisting medical conditions, etc.)
  • Get advice from individuals who are knowledgeable in health and fitness
