Average kids don't spend all of their free time working out, but they do stay active. They know that a healthy amount of physical activity can help them look and feel better. And you know, you don't need a fancy weight room or a talking treadmill to get proper daily exercise. All you need is the motivation and a little bit of imagination!

Sometimes, becoming more active can be as simple as making a few small changes in your routine. Try taking the stairs instead of the elevator or walking your dog a couple extra times around the block. But don't forget that being active also involves a certain amount of strength, endurance, and flexibility. And we're not saying that you need to run out and get a gym membership or a personal trainer. Just be creative!

Try turning something simple into a challenge.
  • Can you touch your toes?
  • How many times can you jump rope or hula-hoop in a minute?
  • How long does it take you to walk or ride your bike to your friend's house?

And look for activities that are fun to do with friends or family.
  • Go bowling or skating on Friday night instead of going to the movies
  • Play a game that you all enjoy, like kickball or flag football
  • You could even have a dance-off!

No matter what you do or how you do it, Average Kids like you should get at least an hour of exercise each day.* And don't forget to warm up and cool down before and after those physical activities to avoid cramps and muscle aches. So what are you waiting for? Get out there and start moving!
